Early one dreary, rainy morning, I sat snugly in my study and looked out of the window. I watched a fat robin pull three worms from the grass, swallow them, and then fly up to the telephone wire. There, just ten feet from me, it began to sing. For half an hour I sat and enjoyed the robin's rendition of "Praise the Lord".
The robin did not complain about the colour or size of the worms, but it was satisfied with what it had found. Content. Delighted with what the heavenly Father had provided.
A young girl whose father was a chronic grumbler said to her mother, "I know what everybody in this family likes. Johnny likes hamburgers, Janie likes ice cream, William likes bananas, and Mummy likes chicken." The father, irked because he had not been included in the list, asked, "What about me ? What do I like ?" The innocent girl replied, "You like everything we haven't got !"
St. Paul could say, "I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content." (Phil. 4:11) In Hebrews 13:5 we read, "Be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, `I will never leave you nor forsake you`."
That's enough to satisfy anyone !
