Several years ago, a former student of mine, Tommy, the resident atheist in my Theology of Faith course, lay dying. He had asked me, at the end of the course: "Do you think I will ever find God ?" I replied: "No, Tommy, but He will find you."
His last words to me were: "We do not find God. He finds us in His own time and in His own way. Only when I opened myself in love to those around me did God come in through the door of the heart I had left open."
Somehow I think it is that way with all of us.
Thanks, Tommy.
