New Season

Poems

by Rosemarie E. Bishop

Hot, humid, muggy days;
the stifling heat of summer.
I miss it only as much as I miss
the chilly winter winds,
and the nippy, biting, frosty air
that settled in my lungs.
The changing seasons
that used to be dramatic
are much subtler now.
The leaves still change color in autumn
as always;
The world still bursts into bloom in spring
as always;
But the seasons that used to bring
the most uncomfortable weather of the year
are now gentle combinations of
the seasons they fall between.
Winter now brings
the brilliant colors of autumn
through the gently falling flakes of snow
that transcend into spring.
Summer now couples
the late blooms of Spring
with the rose, fruits, and rainbows
that carry through to autumn.
No more heat waves.
No more blizzards.
Just a gentle dome of comfort
all throughout the year.
