Lately I heard someone say, “God does not exist!”
I smile when I hear that. I used to say it with conviction for many years of my life.
“God does not exist!”
That reminds me of a story about a fish.
This fish was excitedly swimming round and round. When someone asked it what it was doing, the fish replied, “I’ve heard of the sea, many mention the existence of this “sea” and I’ve looked all over to see if I could catch a glimpse of it...... But it’s nowhere to be seen. I really do not think that it actually exists!”
Were you looking for God? What were you looking for, I wonder? What do you expect to see, to find?
You know, it’s like love or anger.... can you see them? No, of course not. So, does this mean that they do not exist?
But, you say, I’ve seen somebody getting angry. Yes, but that wasn’t anger, was it? What you saw was the result of anger, the actions of someone who was angry. But you did not see anger.
Well, it’s the same with God. You cannot see him, but if you are awake, if you are responsive, you will see His work. You will see him in all situations and circumstances around you.
Just look, it is as simple as that...look. |
