Imagine that a number of people are forming a circle…Suddenly, for some reason, one of these people turns upon the one next to him and hits him. The latter, feeling hurt is filled with anger and bitterness….and he vents his anger upon the closest one to him….In turn this person lashes out against the next, and so on…until Anger has gone round full circle…..
And this anger and violence goes on and on, round and round…
But unexpectedly, one man stands out to put a stop to this. He receives a blow but, instead of passing it on to the other person, takes this violence upon himself…HE breaks the vicious circle of violence and hatred, by taking upon himself the sin that he has suffered….
This is what Jesus came to achieve in the world…. He took upon Himself the sins of the world…and answered with LOVE…and He broke the chains that were holding mankind a slave to violence.
Because Jesus showed that Death has been conquered…. by entering into Death and rising victorious from the grave.
And so we can receive Life, we have Hope…we can have Faith that we too can plunge into death and rise again with Him…having conquered Death.
This is the Christian experience throughout life…walking into any kind of situation that represents Death, fully confident that the Father will not abandon us in the tomb…but resurrect us triumphant into a fuller life.
