Of course you cannot have a web site without any links. Links are used everywhere, in navigators, in banners, in graphics etc…
There are two types of links, Internal Links and External Links. Internal links are links, which link to any of your web site contents, being a web page, a file etc… In the contrary external links are those links that will open an external web site.
Do you want to get a visitor to your web site after doing so much work and marketing, and lose him in a second?
The answer is NO!
So make sure that all external links will open in a new window. In the other hand, you do not want users to close lots of windows which all relate to your web site, so in this case, always make sure that internal links will open in the same window. This will make your web site more pleasing and ethical.
It is useless to mention to be careful and always link to legal content. Also get permission prior to linking to a web site from the Webmaster. And remember, 'No Bandwidth Theft'; do not embed someone else's page in your own web site, unless authorised by the Webmaster of course.
