Web Site Design
|
First impressions are that count!
Your web site's design must be appealing and original.
A visitor will decide whether to keep surfing your web site or not just by giving a look at it. If it is interesting and pleasing to see, there is a good chance that you have a visitor. Depending on your web site contents, as explained before, it could be that the user will bookmark your site and better still, refer it to friends.
Keep this in mind; 'You cannot afford to lose a visitor', there is too much competition out there.
The design of your web site must reflect your personality and most important must match the theme of your site.
Design is a very subjective topic, so try to focus on the following:
|
- Good Screen Layout
- Good Symmetry and Logic
- Try to avoid horizontal scroll bars in resolutions higher than
800 x 600 pixels. - Good combination of Background & Colour Schemes
- Consistent Design throughout your site
- Each page should have a link back to your home page
- Each page should have a link back to your Copyright Statement,
Privacy Policy and Terms of use as applicable. - Make good use of language and grammar
- All text should be legible in all resolutions
- If you have a big web site – try to split it up in smaller units
